The piece I entitle "Well Read" (right),depicts a Labrador retriever resting on a copy of Carl Hiaasen's "Sick Puppy". (Hiaasen writes wonderfully smart humorous tales of odd characters caught up in Florida's political corruption.)
The dog sleeps near precariously stacked books whose titles (some real and some concocted), represent to me human kind's deepest, and also most shallow, cognitive thought. Some days, after watching the evening news, I'd rather be the dog!
My apologies if you are a hardcore GOP person, but I believe the blue people have a better life. Not safer, not wealthier, but better. The blue people take chances, stop and help each other, get lost, learn, try again, take turns. They live for each other, not at the expense of others.

Blue jeans, a pocket knife and a pencil.
This is my illustration of what the American spirit is all about... unpretentious, strong, self-reliant.
When you think and behave independantly ...perhaps bucking society's norms...often times you will find yourself alone.
Some days, and considering some company, is it better that way?
One day I saw a "Darwin fish" and laughed for an hour. Clever!
I'm not being anti-Jesus fish here...just celebrating the mystical ocean depths.
