I paint what I'm inspired to paint. Sometimes a simple wildlife illustration, sometimes an indictment of injustice in the world...sometimes, whimsey.

I have painted almost exclusively in oils for over thirty years. I won't share a resume of art show openings or county fair ribbons...I've never done a real one-man-show...I don't enter competitions.

I paint because doing so is necessary to who I am. I've sold my share over the years, I've got a considerable number leaning against walls...finished and unfinished.

The wonderful thing about art is that there is something out there for every taste. If my work pleases some people, I am pleased. But first and foremost as an artist I must struggle to please me. (Takes a few years to learn that one.)

We live in Marblehead, Ohio. D'Arcy and I have four daughters between us: Tracey, Kelley, Bailey and Lauren. Our cat is Gabby, lovable but worthless. Bluebelle, the black labrador, earns her way retrieving ducks and newspapers.
Way back in the late-seventies/early-eighties I worked my way through college as a Lake Erie fishing guide. While fishing is still my favorite outdoor thing, I'm learning to hunt and love it!

I found my soulmate when I met D'Arcy Egan. He's the outdoor writer for the Plain Dealer in Cleveland.

He put me to work on his former radio show, "Inside the Great Outdoors", and let me voice my opinion on all things outdoors. (I'm afraid I have a lot of opinions!)

These days he's got me in front of, and occasionally behind, the TV cameras, helping him to host our show, "Outdoors Ohio with D'Arcy Egan". airing on the Sports Time Ohio network. He makes life fun!

I entered the computer world kicking and screaming. Necessity forced me to take classes in Photoshop and web design. Guess what? I love it.

Old dogs can learn new tricks.

I can make websites, flyers, business cards, carve the age off my arm in a bad photo, and go cross-eyed after a ten hour session when obsessed with a project. Two other things hold my attention so completely...painting and fishing.

My old day job!

Twenty-one years teaching teenagers to draw, paint, sculpt and see the beauty in the world.

It was frustrating, wrinkle inducing work but on occasion I got to help a kid find direction.

At least they wanted to come to MY class. As Jimmy Buffett once said "math sucks!".

They were having clay wars the day I felt compelled to paint this.

If you can't draw, you can't paint.

Painting is the highest art form.
